Welcome to Calhoun County Economic Development Council. The EDC helps bring businesses and industry to greater Calhoun County, Alabama communities. These include the communities of Anniston, Oxford, Jacksonville, Piedmont, Ohatchee, Hobson City, Weaver and others. Our county has direct interstate access, direct rail access, and a regional airport with a runway of over 7,000 feet. Our location is halfway between Atlanta, Georgia and Birmingham, Alabama on I-20, making us one of the most convenient places to do business in the Southeast United States. We are home to a diverse set of industries, from federal contractors surrounding the Anniston Army Depot located in the western part of our county, to automotive suppliers who service Honda, Hyundai, Mercedes, Nissan, and other automotive OEM's located in the South. The EDC not only helps bring major industry to the area but also works with other local business support organizations to foster entrepreneurship and existing business expansion. Calhoun County is also our region's hub for healthcare, banking, and higher education. Part of what makes doing business here so attractive is the high quality of living including Mt. Cheaha State Park, the Chief Ladiga Trail, the Silver Comet Trail, two world class museums, and a host of other recreational activities.
